Make a difference today!! Below are some of volunteer opportunities.
**WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF VOLUNTEERS TO FOSTER OUR RESCUES***
1. Get DDB brochures from your local representative and put them out in your area, vets offices, restaurants, travel plazas.
2. Get Laws Changed
3. Buy (very inexpensive!) and hang our posters in your area. They will hold up well in the outdoors, in the rain and snow as they are high quality press run.
4. Donate
5. Take a stand when you see dogs living chained or penned. Speak gently to the caretakers, sharing your convictions and information about Dogs Deserve Better and ways they can improve life for their companion.
6. Fence a yard for a dog, get donated material, get others to help you put it in.
7. Get donations or negotiate a free billboard in your local area
8. Advocacy Group Leaders for each area of the NRV to be the eyes and ears of DDB.
Advocacy Group responsibilities:
- Recruit team members
- Hang posters
- Disperse brochures to local businesses
- Disperse and manage collection can at local businesses
- Hand out/mail 'You've Been Spotted' cards. These cards are to thank people who are seen being good dog owners and asking them to join our cause.
- Report to DDB of Giles, VA chained, penned, abused, neglected dogs
- ONLY IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE, hang door hangers
- Spearhead letter writing campaigns. We will soon be sending packets to our Board of Supervisors and local law enforcement asking to adopt a limited chaining/penning ordinance. After the packets go out, we would like for you to organize a letter writing/email/phone call campaign in your area asking they support such an ordinance. In addition, the VA DDB reps will be meeting this fall. We will be organizing our state campaign at this time.
- Gather support for attendance at any board meetings where the limited chaining ordinance is being discussed.
**We will provide all supplies and postage
We would LOVE to have advocacy groups in every county of the NRV.
